It’s going to be another one of those partly-cloudy weekends - on the cool side - here by the sand, typical for May and June. If you’re not headed to the BeachLife Festival (livestreamed here), exploring some new family-friendly adventures might sound like a plan. Here are some really fun and local ideas to consider.
Friday night, plan to bundle up and bring cozy chairs and blankets to the Redondo Beach Pier. Family Movie Night Fridays begins its FREE May season, under the stars! Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is this week’s movie, and the fun begins at 7:30pm.
On Saturday morning, head over to the South Bay Galleria to find The Wonder of Dinosaurs. Two floors of dinosaur-themed activities, over 100 dinosaurs,18-hole miniature golf, mazes, and kiddie rides are waiting to entertain, starting at 10am. Enter on the third floor from inside the mall.
From 1-3pm Saturday, right there at the South Bay Galleria, at Z-Bini Kidz, a Books and Ice Cream Party for Kids is going on. This fun afternoon celebrates the much-awaited sequel to the bilingual book El Perro con Sombrero, titled El Perro con Sombrero meets Los Gatos con Gelatos. Children’s book authors join in for story reading, book signings, games, and an ice cream sundae bar. It’s all free with advance reservations, so click here for more information and to RSVP.
Spend the rest of your Saturday – or all day Sunday if you prefer – at Our Lady of Guadalupe’s La Fiesta. This popular, annual Cinco de Mayo-centric festival offers one of everything, including live music, rides, games, margaritas, fine food, a fantastic bake sale, and a reptile show on Sunday! Raffles, boutique, and silent auction fundraisers - all with great prizes - round out the weekend. For more information, please visit their website.
