Summer is one of the best seasons for creating family memories, so let the fun begin right away! Here are some cool ways to enjoy the weekend together.

Most children have never experienced that old-school drive-in movie theater experience, and now they can! The Roadium is hosting drive-in (all family-friendly) movies every Friday night, beginning this weekend. See full schedule and more details here and get ready to enjoy a time-honored South Bay tradition, 21st-century style! This Friday’s film is Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox.

Take some special summer sweets to the drive-in - or anywhere else! It’s National Doughnut Day this Friday (June 7) so we are sharing our Staff Picks for the best doughnuts in town and, recommend you arrive early in the day for best selection! Torrance Bakery is open (Friday) 6:30am-6pm, and Moon Donuts is open 4am-7pm.

June is also National Dairy Month so we suggest celebrating with the best ice cream in town – Handel’s for superb handcrafted flavors, and Desserts by Patrick for authentic gelato.

On Saturday, a very special Summer Kickoff Beach Barbeque takes place at Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach. Hosted by Diabetes Camping and Educational Services (DCES), this event provides a unique opportunity for children and teens living with diabetes to connect with their peers, counselors, and new friends in the community in a fun and supportive environment. Everyone is invited and welcome, learn more here.

The Palos Verdes Street Fair offers everything under the sun, all day Saturday and Sunday. A huge carnival with rides, live music on 2 stages, over 150 artisans and craft vendors, kids zone, craft beer/wine, and an international food court promises to keep children of all ages thoroughly entertained!

Enjoy a great, safe, and very happy weekend!
